All my chicks are left with the parents for a minimum of three weeks and some as long as eight weeks, depending on the parents and/or the weather.Chicks are syringe fed throughout the hand-feeding process. Once they start picking at their bedding, soft foods, fruits, veggies, beans/rice are offered, as well as softened pellets and birdie bread. The chicks are weaned to a variety of pellets but can be weaned to the pellet of your choice. Babies are taught independent play, so they will be able to amuse themselves during your absence or while caged.Since the early 1980's all my chicks have been allowed to fly and fully wean before doing a gradual feather trim. I then keep the chicks approximately another two weeks to make sure they acclimate to the flight feather trim
